Walsh Cove | Day 27 | 7.20.22

~ From Julia ~

Started this day two at Walsh Cove with bright sunshine and warmth. Easy greeting to our day. Coop was reading in the hanging chair. Nate was up and getting things ready to check Grasshopper’s engine. I got the coffee going and got cups up top. We were all reading at one point and Nater said I’m good to chill here all day. I said that’s what I am doing today. Boats came and went. We kept our sweet little anchorage. Lunch/Breakfast was hash browns with bacon topped with salad of romaine, tomatoes, finely chopped red onions and sliced green olives stuffed with garlic. YUM. Another group favorite. Nate sailed Sweetpea and later Coop took a long spin with the afternoon wind. I napped on the deck and swam. For a treat we put some “Filthy Dirty” IPA in the freezer for happy hour. Enjoyed in under our homemade sun awnings. We just enjoyed being here and wondering what will be in store tomorrow. We’d like to go into Toba Inlet again with Crow.

Today we saw a heron come in and out of this cove. They have been rare to see. The island was inflated so Nate could sand the bite marks on Crow’s topside from each of the dinghies banging into it … oops. It’s like the bruises your 2 year old gets from running too fast and crashing and ending up with an egg on their forehead.

There are some steady prawn catchers around here. We are not one of them but I guess you have to put traps into the water to get them. Maybe next time. Heidi and Tor shared their take with us back at Rebecca’s spit. We are still drooling at the memory of them… thank you friends.

That’s all for now. Be well and take care of each other.

  1. Nice to hear from you Julia. Hi Nate and Coop! I’m behind on my reading as I had to drive down to LA for a couple weeks to see my mom and help get her house empty and ready to sell. It was a lot of work and my brother and sister-in-law and I tag teamed with the myriad of tasks. What a remarkable journey you-all are on! Enjoying the updates, much love, linda
