~ From Julia ~
It’s the last day of July it will be a good one for sure. Beautiful morning looking out at the mountains beyond Shark Spit… gray purple clouds, patterns of the wind across the water and nice breeze. Today’s breakfast was Coop’s waffles with cheese and sliced onions cooked inside. This is a first and will be repeated. They were delicious. He made some plain with blueberries too.
It was a nice slow day. Everyone took naps. The rest of the day was spent mostly up on deck hanging out visiting. Friends came aboard to visit including Bob Tracy who zips around easily in his Boston Whaler from the Gorge. He knows many of the people Nate has met like Ron and Peter. When he arrived he had a bleeding finger. Nate got out the first aid kit and Bob came onboard. Nate and Oceanna fixed him up and he stayed to visit with us.

Bob owns a boat called Rachel, built by Jim Prier. Nate couldn’t believe it. Jim lived across the street from Nate when he lived in Vancouver, and was very kind to him. Nate knew he built boats in his past. Jim offered Nate the use of his workshop anytime and they became friends. Turns out that Jim would love to buy Rachel if she ever comes up for sale. Nate shared this with Bob who may be at a place to sell her. More rings and connections, twists and turns… it’s fascinating.

Another friend came aboard with her dog. She was on her new to her boat and we were sitting talking with Bob and a boat sailed in. It was the boat she had sold to her friend Jocelyn. There were 3 friends on the boat. After practicing anchoring they all swam over to Crow and visited with us. It was a very warm day. Oceanna and Coop had been off on paddle boards and returned.
It was a calm rest of the day after the BIG WIND the night of the concert. Incredible sunset. Oceanna and I saw whales spouting far beyond Shark Spit. Fabulous!
I am reminded of the overwhelming amount of ‘stuff’ I have at home. Living on a boat for all these weeks calls to mind how little we really need. It’s the people not the stuff. If I forget will you all please give me a little reminder. I will re read our blog and my journal to be reminded of what is important. Thinking of ending this time is something I prefer to not ponder so much right now.
