~ From Julia ~
Nate was the early bird waking at 4:30am…I only heard him when the bowl broke on deck. I woke at 8:30 and Nate was ready to sail Sweetpea. Crow was all tidy. Last night we talked about changes with adding 1 more person on the boat. Nate will give up his large sleeping space for Oceanna and Coop. It will be nice to have her with us. She’s lots of fun, thoughtful and easy for all of us to be together. We’re happy for Coop and Oceanna. Such an amazing adventure.

Today we left Waiatt Bay and came through Hole in the Wall and Okesolo rapids. The timing for us was right on and it is sensational to see what the water can do. We tried sailing down Calm Channel with Duane, who we’d met yesterday. Well Calm Channel was too calm but we had the joy of whales feeding right along the base of the rock walls north of Vondonop. It was gorgeous going down the west side of Cortes. Cortes Island is only a little smaller than Bainbridge Island but the population is 1,000. From there we passed Shark Spit, cool area and at low tide the spit stretches out a very long way. Beautiful spot to watch the sunset.
We pulled into Manson’s Landing around 5:00pm. We saw Jeff and Diane on Tacony. They are very sweet. They are the friends we made near Prideaux Haven. Before getting into Manson’s Landing I was totally falling asleep. I wasn’t feeling very well. It was really a hot day and I’d been in the sun too much. I went to lie down on deck in the shade. I’d had a sunshirt on most of our traveling day which was good but my body was reacting to too much sun and heat and I had a wicked headache. I was low key rest of the day. Coop and Nate went paddle boarding with them in some fun rapids at the spit that happens with the tide. Then they hung out by their boat for awhile. Nate got me some cold towels to lay on my body and a few hours later I felt a little better.
I think we were all pretty tired and we treated ourselves with some downtime and watched (first time of screen entertainment) a round of the Women’s disc golf tournament then went to sleep.
