Oceanna flies into Gorge Harbor on Cortes Island in a sea plane. We knew when she was coming in and saw a plane come over and it looked like it might be hers but it kept going. About 20 minutes later it was back. It was fun watching it taxiand come into the dock. Coop had already rowed over in Sweetpea and was there when she taxied in and go off the plane. Of course Nate was on Crow with Coop’s amazing camera with the zoom lens. A new chapter in this blog begins. We’re excited to share some favorite places with Oceanna as well as find some new favorites. ‘WELCOME TO THE CROW CREW OCEANNA!”

Today was relaxing. It’s still warm weather and I stayed in the shade and stayed hydrated. Well I did enjoy a cocktail with ice that Coop had picked up at the dock. That was a big treat. When he left the dock after getting Oceanna, he saw a friend from Bainbridge Island, who has a home nearby and welcomed us to come over. We hope we can swing by to say hello before we head south. While in Gorge Harbor we swung by Ron and Helen’s to say hello and introduce Oceanna. Helen was diving for a marker and Ron was on the dock. We will be seeing them at the Sharkspit Regatta on August 10 & 11th. We will be starting our trip home on August 12th.
It was time for some food. I made sandwiches and we all were satisfied after a busy morning and exciting arrival of Oceanna. She’d gotten up at 4:30am to get to her flight at Kenmore. Oh I almost forgot… the pilot called her name when people were boarding and she got to sit in the co-pilot’s seat. That was just the very best!
A friend Nate and Coop met in 2018 came by us in Gorge Harbor to tell us about a pop up concert at the Shark spit that night. Same people who will be playing at the Gorge the next night. Nate wanted to swing through Manson’s Landing to let Jeff and Diane know that we would be heading there for the night instead of returning to Manson’s in case they wanted to come too.
After anchoring at Shark spit Oceanna swam into the beach to hang and explore. When she returned she and Coop took paddle boards with chairs on them back to the beach. Nate recognized a friend’s boat and she was worried about her anchor so he went over after sailing Sweetpea to help her make sure it was stable. She has a lot of experience sailing but she just sold her other boat so this one is new to her and there’s lots to get used to.
My afternoon was spent happily listening to music, writing, reading and enjoying my surroundings. I could stay here a long time.
The concert turned out to be a Techno DJ, not the father-daughter group we thought were coming. It was wild and thumped late into the night (early morning). They had lights shining up into the trees of all colors. I chose not to go into the beach. The wind kicked up and got strong…. 20mph coming from the northwest so we weren’t protected. It was a rocky howling night but we were fine on anchor.
