Happy Birthday Ted!
Woke on deck to a windy morning and sun. We need to keep hydrated.
I went sailing with Nate in Sweetpea. We had some great wind and a great time. He also wanted to scrub the bottom of Crow before leaving. Sailing back was smooth. Nate got into his wetsuit, fins, mask and snorkel and off the side he went. Coop helped him from the paddle board.

Oceanna took a beautiful solo sail in Sweetpea. We headed out around 3pm. As we came to the end of Von Donop Inlet we heard IT! The sound of humpbacks and saw them spouting near the rock walls as they were feeding. We saw another out in the middle very very close to two people in a double kayak. We got out of the Inlet and turned off the motor… the rest was magic for a long long while. Oceanna took photos, Coop steered and moved us when needed, Nate and I used out scopes to enjoy the oohs and ahhhs of the experience. We were in the middle of the channel when a large humpback rose right next to us. There was total silence on the Crow and he dove under……. Coming up just the other side of Crow. Magnificent creatures. The kayakers gave us their email so we could send them the pictures of the whales coming up very close to them. There were many sightings for the next hour.

We motored to Carrington Bay, another place friends had recommended. It was beautiful but very windy. We saw other boats anchored and decided we would drop it and see. All was good. Beautiful evening. Cooper made a delicious Sesame Chicken Salad. The evening activity was reading. Love this family.
As we finished dinner we felt the first thumps of yet another surprise RAVE at the end of the bay during the night… thumping…oonzting with techno emanating from the trees that were again lit up with lasers, strobes and rainbow makers. Apparently beach raves are a common thing here on Cortes. It seems out of place, but the amount of energy these folks spend to lug the equipment and run all the electric fun without a gas generator is hard to be annoyed at, even though it kept us up until almost sunrise. They must be having fun!
