~ From Julia ~
Coffee on the deck in jammies. I like this very much! We all agree that this is an awesome spot for everything. Today’s thoughts… conserve the fresh water we have. Might go look for a stream to collect and then filter the water. Without Grasshopper we are limited to where we can explore so we are rethinking where to next.
We would like to be in Heriot Bay for Nate’s birthday on Monday. So we’ll either go there Sunday evening or Monday. Nate says “what’s better than cruising on the Crow with my family for my birthday.” Right now weather is perfect but it is looking to get hot in the coming days.
We met a young woman Tisha, from Salt Springs Island, who was sailing with her cousins and their parents. She came by on a paddle board with her cousin Alex. He was happy to get to sail around in Sweetpea and crossed the channel back and forth. Late morning the wind picked up as the family was heading out and the dad called out and said maybe he’d get to put up the Zero sail.
Another family with two little girls came by and we all made our way to the swimming hole. Lots of fun meeting up with people and sharing a day or two or even just an afternoon. Leif the dad is someone we hope to stay in touch with. His wife Alexis is a teacher. Good conversations.
Got some knitting in today which is fun for me as well as reading more of Puffn Cove by Neil Carey. About how he and his wife Betty Lowman Carey built a cabin and moved to Puffin Cove. Great book about leaving life in Southern California and building a cabin and living the life on a small island in 1964.
Goodnight
