Day 35 | 7.28.22

~ From Julia ~

Woke early today. We are feeling lucky to be where we are. The water here is no longer warm. It’s 56 degrees. With the hot weather the water was especially refreshing. Coop gave me my first sailing lesson in Sweetpea. He was paddling next to me on the SUP with a chair on top. It looked very fun but is quite manageable and fun. Coop had a Minto at home too with a sailing rig so we could sail two at the same time when we get home.

In the afternoon we heard very loud motor sounds. When we looked there were two gas surfboards. Not a pleasant sound! Although in Heriot Bay we did see a man riding on a surfboard with foil. That was pretty weird to see but very quiet.

While Coop was out sailing and Nate was on the SUP, a many came by on a SUP. He said he loved Crow and wanted to know a bit about her. He asked me where we were from and I said near Seattle, Bainbridge Island. I wished Nate was there to talk to him. I told him that they were looking at his boat as well. He said he knew Bainbridge Island and went there to find his boat. The boat, Querencia, was restored starting in 2007 on Bainbridge Island. Turns out we know the former owner and Nate had a summer job working on it to help restore it. WOW! These things keep happening. Later in the evening Coop and Nate went over to talk with this man about his boat. They returned with lots of enthusiasm about the boat.
